Widget settings
The following tables outline the individual settings for each type of widget. You can pair multiple queries to build a widget. For instance you can:
-
Query for gaps in education, then find the duration of those gaps.
-
Find providers with licenses in the first query, then from that query find providers without licenses and display a record count.
Due to the possibility of breaking a document, report, or packet, symplr Provider does not allow you to create a widget (in Run mode) from a query that is linked to a document, report, or packet.

The Record Count widget counts records. When using single table results, the widget counts the number of records. When using multiple tables (relational data), you must specify the count table.
Use the following settings to customize the Record Count widget.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Refresh Interval | Indicates how often (in minutes) the server updates the widget data. To avoid unnecessary strain on the server, this should be set higher for larger widgets and for widgets used less often. |
Count Table | The database table producing the count. Unless you are using relational data, the table will be selected for you. |

Here you select a field to categorize, then the different items in each category are counted to create a chart. For example, you could have a result with address information, and if you selected the Address Type as your category field, the system would produce a chart of how many addresses of each type there are in the system.
Use the following settings to customize the Chart widget.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Refresh Interval | Indicates how often (in minutes) the server updates the widget data. To avoid unnecessary strain on the server, this number should be set higher for larger widgets and for widgets used less often. |
Style | The type of chart, such as pie chart or bar chart. |
Category Field | The data in the selected field displays in the chart. |

Displays the results of the query directly in a widget. This allows users to have easy access to a query result that is automatically refreshed without having to manually run the query. The List widget allows you to open records directly from the query.
Use the following settings to customize the List widget.

This widget can display gaps in education and work history, or gaps in insurance or licensing coverage. The underlying query must include a "subject" (usually a provider) that has a start and end date for the selected history/coverage, and Relational Data must be selected in the query Setup > Basic Setup for this widget type. The widget examines date ranges and their respective overlaps or gaps. You must also specify the minimum number of days in a gap (Maximum Gap) to be shown in the widget. You can open records directly from this widget, so you must also specify which form to open.
Use the following settings to customize the Time Gap widget.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Refresh Interval | Indicates how often (in minutes) the server updates the widget data. To avoid unnecessary strain on the server, this number should be set higher for larger widgets and for widgets used less often. |
Display Column | The data in the selected column displays the widget. |
Period Start | The date representing the beginning of a time gap or duration. |
Period End | The date representing the end of a time gap or duration. If the Period Start value is not null, and the Period End value is null, the current date is used to render the calculation. |
Maximum Gap | The number of days allowed before the widget displays a time gap. |
Form | Indicates the form from which the data is being pulled. |

This widget is designed to work with Relational Data results (multiple tables) to produce counts of child records of a “root” record (usually a Provider). For each root record, the configured Display Column is shown with the count of the child records. You can open records directly from this widget, so you must also specify which form to open.
